Mehmood Siddiqui

Mehmood Siddiqui was a renowned film, Television and radio artists. He was born in 1944 in avillage near Sukkur. He started his career as a radio announcer. Abdul Karim Baloach introduced him on Pakistan Television in 1970 in a play Badmaash in which he was given a leading role. He also remained affiliated with Sindh Peoples students Federation, the students' wing of Pakistan Peoples Party. [1]

Education and career

He received his early education form Sukkur and went to Sachal Arts College Hyderabad for further studies and then got Law degree from University of Sindh and got a job in Population Welfare Department but soon after his servic was terminated due to his political affiliation and was also sent to jail for six months. He also actively participated in Sindhi Language movement in 1969. He replaced 'Saleem Nasir' after his sudden death during the drama Jaangloos. Mehmood Siddiqui did wonderful acting in Jungle (a paralyzed person), Deevarain (in a role of Daku),Karawan (a wadera who appreciate and promote music), Marvi (Industrialist / Landlord), Inteha, Zeenat etc.

Awards

He also received PTV Award in 1986 on his best performance in Karwan drama serial. He was aslo awarded with the prformance award in a dram festival held in Baghdad. [2]

Death

Mahmood siddiqui died on 4th august 2000.
